Game Show Central Blog

Welcome to my blog!

So here's my attempt at a game show blog. I don't know if it will take off, or how often I'll update it, but it's something to do to pass the time this summer while so many shows are in reruns.

Speaking of reruns, I've got a pretty good routine going on the cool classic reruns GSN has added to their daytime lineup. I'm a regular visitor to Password Plus, Super Password, and $100,000 Pyramid. Although I have to admit that GSN has rerun the $100K Pyramid episodes so much that I really feel like I knew who's going to win, especially in the tournaments.

Password Plus is currently on the All Star Week with Dick Martin, Betty White, Lucille Ball, and Dezi Arnaz Jr. Dezi is kinda annoying, and I can't decide what to make of Lucy. She's treated like a queen by everyone on the show, and she seems to enjoy the role. Nothing against Lucy of course; she's a national treasure and a TV legend, so most of the praise is deserved. As for her playing skills, she runs hot and cold. She's very dismal with the Password Puzzles, but a dynamo in Alphabetics.

As always, watching Betty is a treat. At this point in the show's run, Allen had only about 3-4 months left to live, yet Betty continued to live life as normal, appearing on Match Game and Password Plus frequently. It will be interesting to see if GSN keeps PP on the schedule long enough to see the episode where Tom acknowledges Allen's passing.

Super Password is always fun as well, although last week featured a heartbreaking bonus round screw up by Dick Gautier. Dick raced through the first 9 words and, with 22 seconds left for the final clue, promptly said the word. Unlike in PP, where an illegal clue only chopped $1000 off the bonus total, on SP, one screw-up cost the chance at the jackpot.
