Not-so-Super Password

This week on Super Password has been a comedy of errors. The sad part is, it's meant to be a tribute to James Doohan from Star Trek, who recently passed away. But his Password skills appear to have never lived. He's given bad clue after bad clue, and had a record two illegal clues in the same bonus round! The poor contestants look horrified.

Meanwhile, BB6 let the cat out of the bag about the first secret in the Summer of Secrets. You have to wonder if they anticipated the contestants would so easily guess what was going on. They're playing it very cool on the show however and are indicating there's more twists to come. I have a hunch at least one evicted houseguest will be coming back in some fashion.

Big Brother Enemy History Lesson

Michael was a good enemy on BB6, and the fight that broke out between him and Eric was, semi-interesting I guess you could say. But it still paled in comparison to what broke out on BB2, which is still my favorite season of all time.

After the yawn-fest that was BB1, the producers set out to cast people who viewers would actualy be interested in. What developed on BB2 was nothing short of trash genius. Two seperate factions developed: Hot Box and Chill Town. Chill Town consisted of Will, Shannon, and the ever-hateable Mike Boogie. Shannon took revenge against Hot Box's Hardy after he put her up for eviction, by using his electric toothbrush to clean the toilet.

Before that there was a hilarious blow up between Shannon and Autumn with the former telling the latter to go "eat some more potato chips". Gold. It was a surprisingly good alteration to the format, and the American Big Brother remains the only version of the series to employ contestants voting each other out rather than viewers at home.

It seems like the twist of having people play in teams was not really a difficult one for contestants to figure out, as Michael so bluntly told Julie during his exit interview on Thursday. The question now is, can people figure out who is on who's team?

Summer of Secrets

Seeing the new Big Brother house is kinda like seeing changes to the old Fun House house. I kept expecting to see a water slide in the new house this season.

I noticed when the contestants got their keys for the first time, none of them seem surprised. It was pretty obviously staged, but last year they made a little better effort to make it seem spontaneous.

Howie is instantly annoying.

Eric the firefighter seems to have some paranoid delusions about women taking over the world.

LOL

The minute I close off that Super Password blog entry, a hilarious blooper! The 2nd word in the puzzle was revealed, and then the entire puzzle was! This was after a word in an earlier round was spelled incorrectly!

Super Password musings

I've noticed that the producers on Super Password got wise to the "Ca$hword Trick", as I like to call it. Basically the idea is to give 2 synonyms on the first two words, and then throw in a rhyme on the last. To combat that, words like "Symphony" have shown up as the Ca$hword, which explains why it recently got to $7,000 before being won.

Big Brother premieres tomorrow. I'll hold judgement until I actually see it, but it seems like this year's twist is a rehash of last year's twin twist, only on a larger scale. Will have to wait and see!
