Moment of Smackdown

I fell for Mark Walberg's "You have to watch this" bullcrap and tuned into the last half hour of Moment of Truth. Announcer Mark Thompson promised it would "destroy the contestant's marriage." I mean, really? You don't think the contestant discusses exactly what questions she had to answer with her friends/family? There's no surprise material here -- the contestant knows exactly what is going to be asked. The whole thing just seems fake to me.

I must not be the only one, because in a non-Idol timeslot, the show died against a (believe it or not) more exciting game show, Deal or no Deal. Deal beat Truth by almost 4 ratings points and even took the 18-49 crown. Of course, Deal has its own issues, desperately diluting its format with a desperate (and still unsuccessful) million dollar giveaway.

Enough with the gimmicks!

Moment of (Real) Truth

Flipping channels I ran past Mark L. Walberg on Moment of Truth (airing on a Monday, which should prove its rating mettle, or lack thereof).

Mark's classic line: "I have to warn you, what are you about to see is very difficult to watch."

You a'int kidding.

One Million = Six Million

TPiR delivered top ratings for the night on Friday, according to TFC. That bodes well for the upcoming specials and hopefully means the 5 year streak of TPiR specials in primetime will continue for some time.

Well, That Was Interesting

If anyone watched Price tonight, hmm, let's say it was a good one.

Naturally, I didn't tivo it. First person who replies who can send me a copy I'll trade an hour of shows from my collection. Would prefer to get it first-gen (i.e., off someone's DVR) and dubbed onto a DVD.

Thanks!
