1986 - 1992 (?) (Retired)
Bump was by far the sexiest pricing game ever played on the Price is Right. Two four-digit prizes were shown. Four double-decker buses with prices for the prizes were placed on a board; the first and last bus had the same price, which meant that price was definitely the price of one of the prizes. At the start of the game, two of the buses were located above the names of the two prizes, but not in the right order. The contestant would have the busses bumped either to the right, so that the first and second busses were found over the prize names; or to the left, so that the third and fourth (equal to the first, remember) busses were over the two prizes (see below for an example). If the contestant bumped correctly, both prizes were won. If not, both were lost.
Bump's claim to fame was Janice's and Dian's (especially Dian's) bumping style. Dian bumped to the right and Janice bumped to the left. While bumping, the models would wind up their hips in the most sensual manner possible and then have at the busses. Dian was even more famous in this game for the constant back rubs she would give to Bob during his explanation of the game. Unfortunately for fans of this game, Dian sued Bob for sexual harassment in 1993 (the suit was thrown out of court), but without Dian, the game really lost all of its charm. Despite his lack of any wrongdoing, Bob might have wanted to gloss over the rumors of the case, and the game (with its sensual appeal) was therefore retired.
Dian, to her credit, was the only one who seemed to know how to knock the Bump busses to the right. When Holly or Kyle would attempt to bump, the buses would rarely be aligned perfectly and would have to be adjusted. Naturally there was not room for all four busses on the table once one was bumped, so one of the busses would drop unceremoniously into a compartment created for it.
| Here's the (in)famous Bump setup from 1986. | Those are the WRONG prices! They need to be bumped! |
| Janice is showing her famous Bump windup. | And there she goes! |
| Note that $2524 is taking a tumble in the left side of this pic. | So we have a price of $1255 on the pony and $1600 on the desk. Do we have a winner? |
| After all that work, she lost. But it sure was fun to watch. |
