Well, it's pretty obvious that Press Your Luck would have been NOTHING without those zany contestants! God bless those hard working contestant coordinators that picked some of these great people. Below are some of my personal faves, interspersed with my own recollections of them and help from, of course, Todd Hunter.

Maggie Brown Talk about omnipotence! We first met the unsinkable Maggie Brown on a different show--the pilot to Press Your Luck's predecessor, Second Chance. After losing on that episode, she returned in 1983 to be a contestant on the Press Your Luck pilot (shown left), where she won as well! And if that wasn't enough, she was on a regular episode of Press Your Luck later on in 1983, where she also won! Maggie's infamy comes due to her near nervous breakdowns she has on air. And THEN, she appeared as a contestant on the Peter Tomarken-hosted Wipeout in 1988. Oy! After staring at the board intently for a few seconds, Maggie would slam down on the plunger and yell "stop", and then follow that with several odd noises. Upon one spin, as Todd recollects, Maggie uttered, "Huh! Oh! Ah!" in agony, even though she hadn't hit a whammy! Maggie, who told Peter that she was employed making "hard things, anything that clunks" had hair that could hide several whammies and contestants, but was definitely fun to have on the show. |

Karen Karen is the woman you see on the intro to the Larsen episode, and unfortunately on the intro to many other episodes. Karen's claim to fame is that she yelled (perhaps ten times) at the board, "I see a pool table for Dan...come on pool table...come on, POOL TABLE!" On the tenth time yelling it, she nailed the table. How memorable. A rather large woman with no fashion taste, Karen had other famous lines, such as "Big bucks, whammies you can drop dead!" and "Bucks any kind I'll take 'em and STOP!" |

Steve Although I don't know his last name, Steve definitely had one of the most memorable cries in PYL history. For his 3 day stay on the show, Steve would without fail wail at the board, "I want big bucks, and no whammmmmmmmmmmmmmmmies." The word "whammy" usually lasted about fifteen seconds, and it drew large cheers from the audience (and groans from viewers at home). |

Cameron Craycroft Perhaps one of the goofiest contestants ever was Cameron, who was formerly a Trident spokesman (when he was six, perhaps). Cameron wore a stuffy suit with massive glasses and curly hair. |

Jennie Jones Yes, that's talk show host Jennie (Jenny) Jones in 1985, way before she became famous for her obnoxious talk show. Jennie won in the most lucky fashion, which accounts for her surprise in the picture. In second place and basically out of the game, Jennie watched as the third place contestant idiotically passed his last spin to the first place contestant, who hit a Whammy. Jennie was also a contestant on Match Game in 1981. Gotta love that hair. |
