Danger Price

1976 - Present

Danger Price is a game played for four prizes. The contestant is shown a "danger price" which represents the price of one of the products. If the contestant can choose the three products that do not have the danger price, s/he wins all four prizes. Picking the danger price at any point ends the game and all the prizes are lost.

Set Changes: The first setup for included four small prize podiums with the numbers 1-4 on them, concealing the price. It also included an awkward-looking board with a fierce TPiR pirate/skull & crossbones displaying the danger price. Shortly after the game was introduced, the prize podiums also displayed the name of the prize. The Danger Price board first was located on the turntable, then moved to the center of the stage. In 1986, the entire game was refurbished with a much improved design. A new Danger Price board was developed with four octagons representing the prices. The models simply pushed a button that would reveal the price of each prize. Green has always signified the choice was safe; red signifies the danger price.

This is the first Danger Price board, today being played on the turntable. Four beautiful prizes--and four ugly podiums!
Don't mess with this guy. These chroma-key shots didn't last too long. She's safe with that prize.
Whoops! Shouldn't have picked that one! Now you have to walk the plank! Here's a rarity; Danger Price is being played for season tickets to all 4 L.A. sports teams!
By 1980, Danger Price was being played in the center of the stage. Note that the podiums now show the prize name. Those tickets were all won, by the way!
Wow, is this the same game? Check out this sleek new setup with the original octagonal motif. Here's a close up shot of the board. A definite improvement over the old podiums.
The encyclopedia is a safe pick... ...and she's a winner!
