1998 - Present
This is one a breeze to describe. Three prizes are shown with prices. Two of the prizes display their correct prices, one has a wrong price (hence the title). Identify the prize with the incorrect price and win all three prizes.
While this game may be easy to describe, it's more difficult to figure out why it was invented in the first place. One Wrong Price is another "make up time" game, but with Switch?, Double Prices, One Right Price, and Side By Side already in the current rotation, why do we need another?
The "Ghostbusters"-esque graphic above the prize the contestant believes has the wrong price lights up before the price reveal. This "effect" does little to attract significant interest to the game.
On Bob's Birthday $1,000,000 Spectacular special in December, 2003, One Wrong Price was played for three cars, and the contestant won!
One Wrong Price was the second of three games to be introduced in the 27th season, with Clearance Sale and Push Over as the others.
| Here's the One Wrong Price setup from 1999. We're playing for a dinette, a fireplace, and golf clubs. | Here's a closeup of one of the price podiums. Doesn't that $2450 seem a little high? But our contestant thinks the dinette is the one wrong price. |
| Yeah, that dinette was priced right. | Indeed the golf clubs were overpriced, and she loses all three prizes. |
