Squeeze Play

1977 - Present

Squeeze Play is a relatively uncomplicated game in which a four-digit bonus prize can be won. The price of the bonus prize, along with an extraneous digit, is shown. The first and last number are definitely right, but one of the three numbers in the middle needs to be taken out. The contestant chooses which number s/he wants to take out and a four-digit price then squeezes together. If this matches the actual price of the prize, the contestant wins.

Squeeze Play is often the victim of technical glitches. On a few occassions, the placards holding the digits have gotten out of alignment. A more common problem involves the display which shows the actual price. Bob pushes a button to display the actual price, but the board concealing the price often gets stuck. Bob has delivered several karate chops to the board to get the actual price to reveal.

On a total lark, Squeeze Play was played for a 5-digit car in March, 2003.

Set Changes: This game was first played in the center of the stage but is now played on the turntable. The setup was changed from white on blue to gold/silver/white on blue in March, 2001.

Here's a playing of Squeeze Play circa 1979 in the center of the stage. The contestant belives that "9" is an impostor...
...and that the real price is $3853. Nope. Should have taken out that "5".
Give that nine a karate chop Bob! Bob demands neatness in Squeeze Play! FYI, Bob has actually trained with Chuck Norris! Squeeze Play is always played on the turntable these days.
Squeeze Play and Shell Game got new touch-ups in March, 2001. And here's another win, this time a pool table!
What??? The first playing of Squeeze Play for a five-digit prize didn't end up so well.
