Whammy!  What's New?

There's a lot of obvious changes to the New Press Your Luck...new set, theme, and host, but the heart of the classic game is there, with some modifications to make it even more exciting:

Round One

Looks chilly, but it's really a good thing.  This means you're in command for Round Three.

Round One has been overhauled for the new version of PYL.  Instead of beginning with a question round, the show starts right at the game board, with contestants alternating with a chance to spin at the board.  All three players start with $1000 (except in the first two episodes), and at the beginning of each spin have the choice of whether to freeze or spin.  After each player takes a turn, more Whammies are added to the board to make spinning riskier.  Four Whammies start on the round one board, and four more whammies are added after each set of spins.  At any point a contestant Whammies, they are out for the rest of the round.  The player with the most money at the end of round one gets to play last in the final round.

Round Two -- Question Round

You could earn 15 spins...or one, in her case.

The question round is identical to the question rounds on the original series (see rules here), with the exception being that 5 questions are asked, so a total number of 25 spins can be earned for round three.

Round Three -- The Big Board Round

This is going to be messy.

Again, played identical to the original series.  Contestants can pass spins if they so desire.  Double Whammies are a new addition to the board, but they count the same as regular Whammies (they're just a lot messier!)  A commercial break takes place mid-way through the round, replacing the commercial break between the end of the round and the credits on the old series.  Champions do not return for the next show, but if two or more contestants end the game with $0 (and less than four Whammies), they are eligible to play again.
