Five Price Tags

1972 - Present

This game remains a classic because of its simplicity! A contestant is shown four small prices and is asked if the given price is true or false. For each prize s/he guesses correctly, s/he wins a chance to choose one of five price tags that represent the price of a car. Of course, only one tag is correct, and even if the contestant guesses all four small prizes correctly, a win isn't guaranteed! Choosing the correct price tag wins the contestant the car.

Set changes: The podiums behind the car haven't changed since 1972. The blue tags light up for each small prize (and price tag) the contestant earns. Until the mid-80's, the correct price tag was just an orange version of the blue tag, while the four incorrect ones said "NO." The winning tag is now represented by a "WIN!" with colorful firework graphics.

This contestant guessed ALL FOUR small prizes correct! Of course, she could still lose... Here are the five price tags from the first time the game was ever played...note that two of the tags are just $12 different. Tough!
But this contestant nailed the price tag on the first guess! The contestant earned a price tag by guessing that the price of this ring was false...you don't see a ring in this game too often nowadays.
This is never a good sign. This sure is! This is the spiffy win graphic from a 1999 episode.
